Social Media Marketing Updates: July 2024

Social media marketing updates are back for another session, and we’re excited about this month’s features! From updated Creator tools on Instagram to Pinterest continuing to be at the forefront of new technology, it’s an amazing time to be in marketing! Let’s see what’s new:

Instagram Creator Insights

Instagram Creator Insights

Instagram is testing a new way to help creators establish partnerships with brands by adding an insights display on their profile. This allows other users to view a snapshot of their account performance over the last 30 days. With profile insights usually under lock and key unless you are logged into an account, it will be interesting to see if adding this feature will open up new conversations and opportunities in the digital marketing world. It’s worth noting that at this point, creators would need to opt in to this feature, similar to that of the Creator Marketplace. What do you think of this update?! Leave a comment with your thoughts!

YouTube Channel QR Codes

YouTube is now creating QR codes for channels to facilitate faster connection to their target audience offline (we must say – this seems a little overdue!). This update is part of a bigger movement we are seeing in the digital marketing space where platforms are experimenting with new ways to bring users online in an offline setting. We expect that this is the first of many tests  that could change the way users find accounts they are interested in on YouTube.

Pinterest AI Tools for Ads

Pinterest AI Tools for Ads

Pinterest has announced new features for advertisers including improved campaign automation and pin edits powered by AI. Instead of relying on your own pin knowledge, these features will allow advertisers to utilize AI to better understand different audiences they can target based on current trends on the platform. This feature allows brands to significantly cut down on manual research that was once required to discover the right targeting for your ad. TikTok Launches Image Sharing App

TikTok Launches Photo Sharing Platform

TikTok has just launched an image-sharing app called Whee, similar to a posting platform such as Instagram. This is part of a rollout as the company seeks to expand engagement opportunities by tapping into broader usage trends. This app denotes a very similar look and feel to Lemon8, which the company launched last year. They are continuing to try new avenues to define what their target market is searching for in a world of digital marketing and consumption. Will this app have more longevity than the others that have tried to give IG a run for its money? We’ll see!
