Repurposing blog content is a great, albeit often under-utilized approach when planning content. As a business owner, the whole process surrounding content creation (including ideation + execution) can be challenging, especially when time is limited. However, if you’re already publishing blog posts, you have a goldmine of content that can be repurposed into various formats for Instagram! By transforming your blog into Carousel posts, Reels, and Instagram Stories, you can extend the lifespan of your blog content, giving you guaranteed topics to cover each month.

Carousel Posts
With all the information that comes in a blog post, a multi-slide carousel post is a great way to repurpose that info. When done right, carousel posts have a way of perfectly engaging the viewer, with each slide leaving them wanting more. These posts are an ideal way to visually break down the bulk of your blog posts into digestible slides. For example, if your blog post is about, “5 Ways to Improve Your Website’s SEO,” you could turn each tip into a separate slide, with each slide featuring a concise version of the tip, paired with eye-catching visuals or graphics that represent the topic! If you write 4 blogs a month, now you automatically have 4 pieces of content to go along with it.
Video Content
Whether you use Instagram Reels or TikTok (or both!), turning your blog posts into video content is another great way to repurpose the content. If your blog is about “How to Create a Social Media Strategy,” you could break it down into a few quick tips or steps, each one serving as a visual element in the Reel. Add a hook at the beginning, and watch the views roll in! Speaking direct-to-camera about the topic is also a way for the video to feel more personal, as well as position yourself as a subject matter expert on the topic.
BONUS TIP: Create a series! For every blog post, you could create a series on the topic, only sharing one piece of info in multiple videos in a row, as opposed to sharing all tips at once.
Instagram Stories
If you’re not creating Instagram Story content using your blogs, it’s time to start. At the very least, you should be linking each blog post in your Stories, making it extremely simple for users to click and read. But we want to go above and beyond, right? One way you could repurpose your blog is to create interactive stories based on the content. Think: “True or False” questions about the topic, or “This or That” polls. Another option is to use your Instagram Stories to share more on the topic at hand. For example: let’s say you’ve written a blog post about “The Best Tools for Scheduling Social Media Posts.” After sharing a few slides with key information, leave a question box where users can drop any additional questions they may have. Then, answer each question either in a video or simply written out!
