A few weeks ago we covered the first four of the top eight marketing trends from 2024, and today we’re covering the last four. These trends should be top of mind for you as you create your 2025 marketing strategy, and will certainly help you achieve the goals you set for yourself and your business! From connecting with your audience to increasing sales online, there are many takeaways here today.
Let’s get started!
UGC Builds Brand Credibility
User generated content really exploded on the scene about 1-2 years ago, but has become mainstream since. In fact, brands are now moving toward paying for UGC content because of the authentic nature that deeply connects with their audience. I don’t know about you, but if I don’t see someone like me using a product or eating at a restaurant that I’m looking at going to, I’m less likely to make a purchase. In fact, according to Bazaar Voice, 40% of shoppers WON’T purchase if there isn’t UGC on the product page on their site or social media. Imagine capturing 40% more sales by simply having UGC available for your consumers – it would be a game changer for your business!
Shares Matter Most
In a world where everyone loves to look at their likes and followers, I want to challenge you to take a step back. These metrics have never made an impact on your business’ bottom line, and now, we’ve received confirmation from Instagram that they don’t matter to the algorithm either. So what does, you may ask? Shares. Shares imply that consumers found that piece of content relatable, informative, or important enough to share in their network. In turn, this results in more content reach, brand visibility, and brings more users to your brand’s page! We are no longer publicly engaging with content, and are more likely to engage privately, which is exactly what shares indicate. Shares signal to the algorithm that consumers identify with your content, and nothing is more powerful than that.
Social Shopping is the Future
According to E-Marketer, in 2023, 100 million Americans made at least one purchase via social media, totalling nearly $67 billion in sales. By 2027, this market is projected to reach more than double that figure, at nearly $150 billion. These are not numbers to be ignored! While younger generations are making a bigger percentage of these purchases, overall, 27% of millennials and 22% of Gen Z-ers have purchased a product ON social media in the previous 90 days based on a Hubspot study. This tells us that consumers don’t want to leave the platform to make the purchase. They want to scroll – purchase – scroll, with no pause. This also tells us that you must have your brand be shoppable on the platform, and make the process as easy as possible for the consumer. TikTok has plans of being the next Amazon. Isn’t that something you want to jump on now?
Storytelling Sells
Storytelling on social media has always been around, really beginning in the early days of YouTube. But over the past few years, it’s evolved the most because of TikTok. Something as simple as a Get Ready With Me video is some of the most popular content on TikTok, and at its simplest form is just storytelling. Utilizing this tool, the creator builds an emotional connection with the consumer, really drives home their messaging, and stands out in the crowd. This is why having a face to your brand is absolutely critical. It allows you to tell stories and create scenes that emulate feelings from your audience. We’ve seen this a lot this year, even from brands that don’t historically even have a face to their brand! Accounts like Nutter Butter and Dunkin who have created personas on social media to emulate feeling and reaction from their audience, and it works.
