Favorite 2024 Social Media Trends

Today Team 95 is sharing their favorite 2024 social media trends! From Instagram to TikTok, each month brought exciting new updates that both made for a better user experience, as well as allowing our team to create better + more effective content for our clients. Let’s take a look!

Carley

“My favorite update this year has been Instagram carousels showing up on the Reels page. This has been SUCH a long time coming since you’ve always been able to do this on TikTok. Carousels already have a level of engagement that static posts lack, but now adding music and showing on the Reels page, users are far more likely to scroll through all slides, allowing you to share more information and convince them to take the next step (immediate follow, profile visit, etc.) These posts are already increasing engagement, encouraging more shares and comments than normal for my client.”

“My favorite update this year has been the new TikTok collaboration feature. This is an exciting step on the platform to further foster engagement while driving reach for all involved in the collaboration. It gives our clients the opportunity to reach more users that may be interested in their product or service by taking advantage of audiences that were already built. TikTok continues to be the fastest growing platform and updates like this will only drive this further. If your brand is not already on TikTok, NOW is the time!”

“One of my favorite updates this year has been LinkedIn’s introduction of a dedicated video feed. This new feature makes it easier than ever to showcase dynamic content, such as thought leadership, behind-the-scenes moments, and product highlights, in a format that grabs attention and fosters deeper engagement. I used this update with a client by creating short, impactful videos that shared their brand story and highlighted success stories of their product. These posts in the video feed saw significantly higher engagement than traditional posts and positioned the client as an industry leader. It’s been an incredible tool for building stronger connections with their professional audience in a meaningful and impactful way!”

Ashley

“One of my favorite updates from Instagram has to be the prioritization of Shares. Emphasizing post share rates as a key driver of reach fundamentally shifts how we think about content strategy. Instead of focusing solely on likes or comments, it prioritizes creating posts that people find valuable enough to share with their own networks. This change encourages more intentional, impactful content that sparks conversations and connects communities. It’s no longer just about stopping the scroll; it’s about making content so engaging, informative, or inspiring that users feel compelled to share it! I love how this update aligns with building genuine engagement, as shares often indicate a deeper level of resonance with the audience. It challenges me to think beyond surface-level metrics and focus on content that adds real value.”

“One of my favorite updates from Instagram this year has been the addition of the “Best Practices” feature. It offers personalized recommendations to help optimize posts, stories, and ads based on your specific industry and content type. This has been super helpful in fine-tuning client strategies, especially when it comes to boosting engagement and reach. For example, I recently applied these insights with a new client who specializes in custom textiles and wallpaper. Their brand, like all brands, is unique in their own way. They have a specific voice, tone, and community. Using the “Best Practices” feature, I received valuable tips on how to enhance both inbound and outbound engagement, plus the best ways to create effective stories and posts based on Instagram’s recommendations. The “Best Practices” feature has really helped me to easily streamline our content strategy and drive better results for our clients!”

“One of my favorite Instagram updates this year was increasing the maximum number of photos allowed in a carousel post from 10 to 20. TikTok has had this feature for a while, and Instagram is always trying to keep up, especially considering Instagram was initially a photo-based app and TikTok video-based! TikTok trends tend to end up on Reels eventually, and plenty of trends call for 10+ photos in a carousel, so this update will allow even more viral/trending content to carry over from TikTok to Instagram. It also gives more content flexibility in general, which is always a plus!”
