It’s a new year which means new marketing updates! It’s going to be a crazy next few months with so much up in the air. Today we’re talking through updates on Instagram, Meta, and Threads that you don’t want to miss. Be sure to follow us on Instagram as well to stay up to date as we approach the TikTok ban and more!
Instagram Launches Trial Reels
Instagram is trying out another way to help Reels creators maximize their content performance, this time via audience sampling, to get a sense of whether their latest Reel is likely to be a hit or not. This new feature will enable Reels creators to share their latest uploads with a selection of users that don’t follow them first. If the creator is happy with the success of the Reel, they then have the option to share it with all users. An exciting, unique addition that comes on the heels of TikTok being gone.
Threads is a Top Download
Threads continues to linger in the most downloaded app charts, recently coming in as the #1 most downloaded app on iOS devices with over 11 million downloads in the last month alone. It’s not clear that Threads is going to become a true challenger for the platform formerly known as Twitter, but the data suggests that it has the opportunity to do so. If you aren’t currently utilizing or testing out this platform, 2025 provides the perfect opportunity to start!
New Meta Metric Options
Meta is looking to give users more ways to control how their metrics are displayed on Instagram, with a new test of optional view counts on Reels on your profile, while on Threads, giving users the option to hide your Threads replies. Hiding certain performance data aligns with the broader shift away from vanity metrics, showing a greater importance on performance data that is viewed internally, rather than what your audience is able to view. We love to hear it!
Instagram Tests Scheduled DMs
You can already schedule posts and Stories on Instagram, and soon, you’ll be able to schedule your DMs as well. Instagram is testing a new DM scheduling tool, so you can send your messages at optimal times. This new feature boasts a similar effect on increasing reach and engagement as does scheduling other forms of content; allowing the user to be more active online without actively having to be present within the app.
